CATL has put its large-format 587Ah lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cell on direct sale through its CATL Mall platform at 435 yuan (RM265) per kWh.
The cell is designed for stationary energy storage rather than electric vehicles, so the price should not be read as a direct indication of EV battery-pack costs.
The CATL Mall listing shows a minimum order of 324 cells, equivalent to about 608.6kWh of storage capacity. That puts the minimum purchase at roughly RMB265,000.
CATL said the 587Ah cell is designed around mainstream 20-foot energy-storage containers and 1,500V power-conversion systems.
The battery maker began mass production and deliveries of the cell in June 2025, initially targeting large-scale energy-storage projects.
Its appearance on CATL Mall gives smaller system integrators access through the company’s own online purchasing channel instead of relying solely on large project supply arrangements. Buyers are still required to hold a valid Chinese business licence.
The publicly listed price is notable because it offers a rare look at cell-level pricing from one of the world’s biggest battery manufacturers.
However, stationary-storage cells operate under different requirements from automotive traction batteries. EV cells and packs must also account for power delivery, thermal management, packaging, crash protection, battery-management systems and vehicle certification.
