BYD has completed its 2,000th highway Flash Charging station in China, meeting its year-end target more than three months early.
The station opened today at the Baoying service area in Yangzhou, Jiangsu province, on the Beijing–Shanghai Expressway.
BYD had announced the completion ceremony through its Flash Charging social media channel the previous day.
When BYD set out its Flash Charging plan in March, it said the 2,000 highway stations would cover nearly a third of China’s expressway service areas.
Its planned spacing was roughly one station every 100km or more. The company has now reached the station target ahead of its December deadline; the original coverage and spacing figures were plans, rather than measurements verified by the station count alone.
The highway sites form one part of a much larger build-out.
BYD aims to establish 20,000 Flash Charging stations across China by the end of 2026, including 18,000 urban sites developed with charging-network operators. It marked the completion of its 10,000th station overall in August.
BYD said its Flash Charging system can take a vehicle fitted with its second-generation Blade Battery from 10% to 70% charge in five minutes under its stated conditions.
