Porsche is giving the Taycan a wider model-year update, and this one is not just about more range or another screen.
The electric sports saloon now gets a new E-Shift function that mimics gear changes, while selected versions gain improved efficiency and a fresh infotainment system.
The key change is E-Shift, an option available across Taycan variants and body styles.
It uses simulated gear changes, steering wheel paddles, a virtual rev counter and a reworked Porsche Electric Sport Sound to make the EV feel more like a traditional performance car under hard driving.
Drivers can shift through eight virtual gears using paddles on the GT sports steering wheel. Porsche said the system also adds simulated shift jolts, gear-specific drag torque and a virtual rev limiter.
The Taycan Turbo GT gets E-Shift as standard. Other variants need E-Shift specified with the GT sports steering wheel, Sport Chrono package and Porsche Electric Sport Sound.
The Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package can now be specified with a Manthey Kit, Porsche’s first such package for an electric sports car.

This brings aerodynamic, chassis and powertrain changes, and Porsche said it is the first Manthey Kit for an electric sports car. It is available as a retrofit package or, for the first time, direct from the factory.
The kit has already been used to set a 6:55.533 lap at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in the “electric executive cars” category, with Porsche development driver Lars Kern behind the wheel.
There is a more practical update too. Rear-wheel-drive Taycan saloon and Sport Turismo models in Europe can now be fitted with 20-inch summer tyres with lower rolling resistance.
With the Performance Battery Plus, Porsche quotes up to 700km WLTP for the saloon. The Sport Turismo is rated at up to 671km.
Inside, the Taycan moves to Porsche’s newer Digital Interaction interface.
The updated Porsche Communication Management system is said to have up to five times the computing power of the previous unit, with quicker responses, configurable widgets, a 3D vehicle display, improved Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, and AI-supported Voice Pilot.
The system also supports over-the-air infotainment updates, while the wireless phone charger now runs at up to 25 watts.
Porsche said the 2027 model-year Taycan is available to order through Porsche centres.
