Leapmotor delivered 81,569 vehicles in May, setting a new monthly record as the Chinese electric vehicle brand continues to grow at home and abroad.
The figure covers domestic and export deliveries. It is up 81% from May 2025 and 14.26% higher than April, when Leapmotor delivered 71,387 vehicles, its previous monthly best. For the first five months of 2026, Leapmotor delivered 263,111 vehicles, up 51.51% from the same period last year.
The numbers give Stellantis-backed Leapmotor another strong month in China’s crowded new-energy vehicle market, where price, range and model cadence are doing much of the heavy lifting.
The brand has built much of its volume on more affordable models, but it is now trying to move further overseas and into higher-value segments.
Its next step is the Leapmotor B05, also called the Lafa 5 in China. The electric hatchback is due to enter 28 overseas markets in June, giving Leapmotor a wider global reach beyond its current export base.
Leapmotor sells most of its cars at home. Abroad, where few people have heard of the brand, the B05 needs to clear a low bar — look the part, drive decently, and not cost too much.
