BMW has opened European orders for the i3 50 xDrive First Edition, giving buyers early access to its first fully electric 3 Series before the wider market launch in autumn 2026.
The i3 is the second Neue Klasse model after the new iX3, and puts BMW’s core saloon line into its electric era.
Pricing for Europe starts at €75,340 (RM357,000) for the First Edition. The standard i3 50 xDrive will follow at launch from €65,900 (RM312,000). BMW said both figures are based on the European offer and include 19% German VAT.
The First Edition does not get a unique powertrain. It uses the same dual-motor xDrive layout as the regular i3 50 xDrive, with one electric motor on each axle. Total output is 345kW, or 469hp, with 645Nm of torque. The 0-100kph sprint takes 4.7 seconds.
Power comes from a 108.7kWh net battery pack using BMW’s latest cylindrical cells. WLTP range is quoted at up to 906km for the First Edition, while the standard i3 50 xDrive is listed at up to 912km. BMW said the standard car’s figure remains provisional.
The car runs on an 800V electrical system and supports DC charging at up to 400kW. In BMW’s WLTP-based calculation, 10 minutes on a suitable rapid charger can add up to 423km of range. AC Charging Professional is standard on the First Edition, raising AC charging from 11kW to 22kW.
Extra kit includes the M Sport package, BMW Iconic Glow, automatic tailgate operation, heated steering wheel, front multifunction seats, three-zone climate control, a 3D head-up display and Harman Kardon audio.
BMW said First Edition specification will remain available after general i3 orders open in autumn 2026.
