Linglong Tire has shown a newly developed tyre made from 85% sustainable materials, as the Chinese company uses a European appearance to push a stronger environmental message.
The reveal took place during the World Business Council for Sustainable Development annual meeting in Montreux, Switzerland, held from April 27 to 28, 2026.
Linglong said the event gathered nearly 600 participants from major companies to discuss issues including the 2030 emissions-reduction agenda and the circular economy.
The tyre uses more than 60% bio-based renewable materials and about 25% recycled materials.
Linglong said these include rice husk ash silica and bio-based rubber, which replace some traditional petroleum-based ingredients. The aim is simple enough: lower the tyre’s carbon footprint without turning it into a weak laboratory showpiece.
According to Linglong, the tyre still meets the EU tyre label’s highest “A” grade in rolling resistance and wet braking.
Linglong also used the event to stress its supply-chain work. As the first tyre manufacturer in mainland China to join the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber, the company said it supports FSC-certified natural rubber projects, including work linked to rubber farmers, forest protection, workers, indigenous peoples and local communities.
Linglong said it is promoting liquid waste rubber and pyrolysis carbon black, both linked to better use of waste tyres.
Linglong Tire president Zhou Lingkun said sustainability has become a mandatory task for businesses. The company is targeting a 52.07% carbon reduction by 2035 and net-zero emissions by 2050. It also wants to produce a tyre made from 100% sustainable materials by 2040.
