ChargEV has installed 32 AC charging bays at Merdeka 118, giving the landmark tower one of the larger EV charging locations in central Kuala Lumpur.
All charge points are rated at 22 kW AC. The chargers are located on B1, reached via Entrance C. Most of the bays serve the office parking area near PR19, while four are placed closer to the Park Hyatt hotel side near PE16.
That split should suit office tenants, hotel guests and, later, shoppers when the mall opens.
The standard rate is RM1.00 per kWh. For the opening promo, users on the ChargEV app can apply the code M118GL for a temporary RM0.80 per kWh rate, valid until 6pm on May 8.
The chargers can be activated through the ChargEV, Gentari Go and JomCharge apps, which should make access easier for regular EV users already using Malaysia’s major charging platforms.

The deployment comes ahead of the scheduled opening of Merdeka 118 Mall in August, when visitor traffic to the tower is expected to grow.
With offices, hotel guests and future mall visitors in the same development, AC charging makes sense. These are not rapid chargers for a quick highway-style top-up. They are better suited to cars parked for several hours.
For EV owners heading into the city centre, the new hub adds a useful charging option in a high-profile location. It also shows how destination charging is slowly becoming part of premium commercial developments in Kuala Lumpur.
