Hyundai has revealed a new Black Ink version of the Ioniq 9, giving its three-row electric SUV a darker flagship trim for the US market.
Officially called the 2027 Hyundai Ioniq 9 AWD Performance Calligraphy Black Ink, the model was shown during a media event near Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America in Savannah, Georgia. It will be built in Bryan County, Georgia, and is due to reach US dealers this summer.
The Black Ink treatment is mostly visual, but it sits on the most powerful Ioniq 9 configuration.
Hyundai fitted the SUV with black chrome front and rear exterior trim, gloss black roof rails, black window mouldings, a black front Hyundai badge and exclusive black 21-inch Turbine Design alloy wheels. The sole paint colour listed in Hyundai’s announcement is Abyss Black Pearl.
Inside, the theme continues with a black cabin colourway, black aluminium trim and a black steering wheel. The Ioniq 9 Black Ink comes as a six-seater, with first- and second-row Relaxation Seats offering power recline and ventilation.
Hyundai also lists an eco-suede headliner made from corn-derived fibres, aluminium trim with organic-style patterns and heated third-row seats.
Performance comes from a dual-motor all-wheel-drive set-up producing 422hp, or 314.6kW, and 516lb ft of torque. Hyundai pairs it with a 110.3kWh battery.
he SUV’s 800V architecture supports up to 350kW DC fast charging, with a claimed 10% to 80% charging time of about 24 minutes under ideal conditions. A native NACS charging port is also included for the North American market.
Equipment is suitably heavy for a range-topping trim. The list includes a 10-inch head-up display, 14-speaker Bose audio, a digital rear-view mirror, Remote Smart Parking Assist 2, panoramic roof, front and rear dash cams, Vehicle-to-Load functionality and 100W-capable USB-C ports across all three rows.
Hyundai has not announced pricing yet.
For now, the Ioniq 9 Black Ink is a styling-led flagship rather than a major technical change, but it gives Hyundai’s largest EV a more premium-looking variant for buyers who want the full equipment list with a darker finish.
