ALERT: The Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV will be previewed on Dec 5-7 at Proton’s Centre of Excellence (aka its headquarters) in Subang Jaya. The preview of the camouflaged car is being held in tandem with the Proton Tech Showcase event.

The Proton e.MAS 7 will have a plug-in hybrid sibling, which has been spotted recently undergoing public testing.

The latest sighting, posted on Nov 25 in the Proton e.Mas 7 Owners Malaysia Facebook group and reported by Malay motoring newsite funtasticko, showed a heavily camouflaged SUV wearing a trade plate. The photo was snapped by a user identified as “Anonymous participant”.

It followed an earlier encounter at the Ayer Keroh lay-by, where another e.MAS 7 PHEV was seen parked alongside two camouflaged 2026 Saga prototypes.

Those images, uploaded to Reddit by user JiJiNgebob, confirmed that Proton is now running multiple e.MAS 7 test cars on local roads.

The two e.MAS 7 units wear different camouflage patterns and plates, suggesting separate routes or test programmes.

Under the skin, the e.MAS 7 PHEV is closely related to the Geely Galaxy Starship 7/Starray EM-i, built on Geely’s Global Energy Architecture.

Australian-market data points to a 1.5-litre petrol engine (99PS/125Nm) paired with an electric motor for a combined 218PS and 320Nm, powered by an 18.4kWh LFP battery.

The SUV takes 8s to achieve the 0–100kph sprint, has a top speed of 170kph, up to 84km electric range and a claimed combined WLTP range of 943km, with fuel consumption rated at 2.4 litres per 100km and electricity consumption at 14.7kWh per 100km.
