Thought you were safe from meetings once you were on the move?
Mercedes-Benz thinks otherwise. The company is adding a full slate of Microsoft productivity and collaboration tools to its cars, beginning with the all-new CLA and the fourth-generation MBUX running on MB.OS this summer.
The latest Meetings for Teams app lets occupants join calls using the car’s built-in camera while driving.
To comply with national laws and the brand’s safety rules, the outgoing video stream to the driver switches off automatically once the camera is activated, ensuring no shared screens or slides appear. The camera can be disabled at any point.
A redesigned dashboard shows “Next Meetings” and offers one-tap access to frequent contacts. An expanded chat function supports reading and composing messages, voice control handles text input, and users can jump straight from the calendar into a Teams session.
Mercedes-Benz is also the first carmaker to integrate Microsoft Intune natively into its operating system. The device and app management platform separates personal and corporate data, lets IT administrators set access rights and security policies, and aims to give the vehicle the same enterprise-grade safeguards as a company smartphone.
Business users can sign in with their work accounts and switch between applications, including MBUX Notes and Calendar. The rollout is planned for Europe and the United States.
Work is under way to bring Microsoft 365 Copilot into the cabin. The generative AI tool is intended to help drivers prepare for meetings using voice prompts to summarise emails, pull up client details and handle daily tasks, positioning the car as a “third workspace” alongside office and home.
“Through our industry-leading collaboration with Microsoft, we are making it even easier for our customers to stay productive while on the move,” said Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius.
“By integrating the latest Microsoft workspace tools, such as Microsoft Teams, directly into our new operating system, MB.OS, we’ve created an intuitive and safe user experience that boosts efficiency and reduces distractions at the same time.”
