Shell Malaysia has completed the country’s first East Coast to West Coast High-Performance Charging (HPC) network, enabling electric vehicle (EV) users to access fast charging across Peninsular Malaysia.
The network links Kuala Lumpur to Terengganu and complements Shell’s existing North-South HPC network covering Johor to Perak.
The new infrastructure includes charging stations in Pahang and Terengganu, addressing a long-standing gap for high-powered EV charging on the East Coast.
This rollout aims to enhance long-distance EV travel during peak seasons, including the upcoming Hari Raya festive period.
Shell’s General Manager for Mobility & Convenience, Seow Lee Ming, said the expansion would enable Shell to support Malaysia’s energy transition and facilitate the electrification of transport. The network now consists of 13 HPC stations, with another site at LPT1 R&R Temerloh soon to open for Kuala Lumpur-bound travellers.
The HPC network delivers up to 180kW of DC fast charging, capable of charging vehicles such as the Porsche Taycan and Macan from 10% to 80% in as little as 18 to 21 minutes.
Porsche owners also enjoy additional benefits under the Shell Recharge-Porsche partnership, such as more booking privileges and special tariff rates.
Shell’s HPC network, accessible via the ParkEasy app, applies a charging fee of RM2.20 per kWh.
Users are subject to a RM5 booking fee, waived if the charging bay is claimed within 10 minutes, and an idle fee of RM8 per 15 minutes applies after a 15-minute grace period.
To mark Hari Raya, Shell is offering rebates from March 24 to April 4, 2025. Porsche owners enrolled as Shell Recharge Platinum members will receive a full 100% rebate, while Gold members and pay-per-use customers will receive a 50% rebate, credited within seven days after the promotion.
Sime Darby Auto Performance CEO Christopher Hunter said the network expansion supports Porsche’s growing EV lineup and helps reduce charging downtime.
Shell stations are also equipped with amenities such as rest areas, convenience stores, and Shell Café outlets for driver comfort during charging sessions.
