BYD, the world’s leading manufacturer of new-energy vehicles, has unveiled the Atto 2 at the 2025 Brussels Motor Show, Europe’s first major automotive event of 2025.
Designed as a compact, affordable SUV that still delivers premium features, the Atto 2 complements the larger Atto 3 in BYD’s expanding European range.
It measures 4,310mm long, 1,830mm wide and 1,675mm tall, with a 2,620mm wheelbase for enhanced cabin space.
The short overhangs create a sporty stance, while the front’s neatly integrated full-LED headlights and bright trim provide a strong visual signature. A full-width light bar at the rear joins distinctive ‘Chinese knot’ tail-lights shaped like the number 8, symbolising good fortune.
Inside, the Atto 2 features a clean, geometric layout with padded surfaces, integrated door handles and a completely flat floor thanks to BYD’s dedicated e-Platform 3.0.
A panoramic glass roof brightens the interior, and the rear seats can fold down to boost the standard 400-litre boot to 1,340 litres. Physical controls for key functions are placed around the crystal-look drive selector for quick, intuitive use.
BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li says the Atto 2’s urban-friendly dimensions and strong SUV appeal will suit Europe’s popular B-segment crossover market, emphasising the brand’s commitment to bringing advanced electric technology to a broader audience.
Central to the Atto 2 is BYD’s Blade Battery, which uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) for enhanced safety, long life and temperature resilience.
In a first for BYD’s compact models, the battery is integrated using Cell-to-Body construction, forming part of the car’s chassis to boost rigidity and free up additional interior space.
This design also helps the Blade Battery surpass strict safety tests, including the demanding Nail Penetration Test.
At launch, the Atto 2 will offer a 45.1kWh battery delivering a WLTP combined range of 312 kilometres.
A 130kW front-mounted motor propels the vehicle, providing brisk performance ideal for city driving.
A second variant with a larger battery is scheduled to follow later, promising even greater range.
Full specifications, trim levels and pricing will be detailed in the weeks ahead, aligned with the car’s official European sales rollout in February.
Standard paint is Climbing Grey, with Hiking Green, Skiing White and Cosmos Black as optional finishes, reinforcing the Atto 2’s urban style.
