Central Auto Distributors Bhd (CADB), the exclusive importer of Dongfeng passenger vehicles in Malaysia, has officially launched the fully electric Dongfeng Box.

Initially previewed at the Guangzhou Auto Show in 2023 , the Box hatchback marks Dongfeng’s first consumer electric vehicle (EV) offering in the Malaysian market. It is sold in China as the Nammi 01.

The 5-seat Box is available in two variants: the E2 priced at RM100,700 (on-the-road without insurance) and the E3 at RM113,700. An optional white roof is available for the E3 at an additional RM2,000.

Buyers registering their vehicles this year are eligible for early bird promotions, including a free portable charging unit, front cabin storage, and a choice of either RM3,000 worth of EV charging credit, a home wall charger valued at RM3,288, or a service maintenance package worth RM3,000.

Both variants use lithium iron phosphate battery in different capacities. They are powered by a front-mounted 70kW (94hp) electric motor producing 160Nm of torque, with a top speed of 140kph.

The E2 variant is equipped with a 31.45 kWh battery offering a CLTC-rated range of 330km, while the E3 features a 42.3 kWh battery with a 430 km range. Charging capabilities include 30%-80% DC fast charging in 30 minutes for both variants, with AC charging speeds of 3.3 kW for the E2 and 6.6 kW for the E3.

The Box comes equipped with a 12.8-inch touchscreen, wireless phone charging, and ambient lighting. The E3 includes Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features such as autonomous emergency braking and adaptive cruise control, while both variants offer a basic suite of safety features, including two airbags.

The current batch of Box is fully imported from China. CADM is expected to locally assemble it in 2025, bringing the electric city car price even lower.

Customers can visit one of 16 authorised dealers or two Klang Valley experience centres for more information.

One more thing. CADM is a company under the Association of Malay Importers and Traders of Motor Vehicles Malaysia (Pekema), the folks who shipped in Tesla grey imports before Tesla made its official entry into Malaysia in July 2023.
