The Leapmotor C10 was previewed in Malaysia today.
The C10, a 5-seat electric SUV, is expected to launch in October, and only the higher-spec of two versions will be available.
This version would feature a 69.9kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, offering a range of 420km (WLTP). The battery supports fast charging, allowing a 30% to 80% charge in 30 minutes and an additional 200km of range in just 18 minutes.
The C10 is powered by a single electric motor in the rear axle, producing 218 PS. Standard features include automatic LED headlights, a rear LED light bar with animation, automatic wipers, parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, flush door handles, and a powered tailgate.
The C10 interior offers multi-colour ambient lighting, leather seats, dual-zone climate control, and powered front seats with heating and ventilation. A panoramic sunroof with an electric sunshade is also included.
The infotainment system consists of a 14.6-inch high-resolution touchscreen with navigation, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and 4G connectivity, complemented by a 12-speaker surround sound system.
Contenders on the local front are the BYD Atto 3 and upcoming Proton e.MAS 7. The C10 is of a similar size to the 7-seat Chery Tiggo 8 Pro and Proton X90 and would likely compete for their customers as well.
Leapmotor says the C10 is positioned as a vehicle for young professionals and families, offering a blend of innovative design, sustainability, and advanced engineering.
Built on Leapmotor’s Leap 3.0 modular platform, it features an in-house developed Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack.
The battery is integrated into the car’s Cell-to-Chassis (CTC) architecture, which enhances safety, improves battery efficiency, and boosts driving performance. This setup allows for advanced thermal management, providing up to 720 minutes of heat protection.
The C10 supports flexible charging options, including 800V/400V supercharging technology.
The C10 also incorporates Leapmotor’s Four-Leaf Clover Central Electronic and Electrical Architecture (E/E), which centralises control of the vehicle’s systems, such as the cockpit, driving, power, and body, through a single microcontroller.
The digital system is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, ensuring smooth communication between the car’s components and delivering a seamless user experience.
The ADAS Level 2+ rating further highlights the C10’s safety features, making it competitive in global markets. The car’s minimalist design has earned international recognition, including the “2023 International CMF Design Award” and the “2024 French Design Award”.
The C10 marks the start of a partnership between Leapmotor and Stellantis, formalised in October 2023.
The collaboration, named Leapmotor International, aims to bring Leapmotor’s battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) to markets outside China, with Malaysia being the first in the Asia-Pacific region, followed by Thailand and Australia.
Leapmotor’s partnership with Stellantis aims to leverage Stellantis’ global presence to expand into new regions, including Europe, India, and the Middle East.
The venture plans to introduce five new models by 2026, catering to various vehicle segments.
