Porsche has introduced two more versions of the electric Macan: the Macan RWD as the base model and the Macan 4S.
They joined the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo that made their global debut in Singapore in January.
While the focus for the rear-wheel-drive Macan was primarily on high efficiency and range, the new Macan 4S will fill the gap between the Macan 4 and the Macan Turbo.
Pre-orders are now open for Malaysian customers. The recommended retail pricing of the four variants are as follows: Macan at RM430,000, Macan 4 at RM445,000, Macan 4S at RM525,000 and Macan Turbo at RM635,000.
Like the variants introduced at the start of 2024, the 4S is equipped with the electronically controlled Porsche Traction Management (ePTM) system.
The entry-level Macan draws power from a high-voltage 100 kWh battery, featuring a rear-axle motor producing 250 kW (340 PS).
The vehicle achieves a WLTP range of up to 641 km, a 0-100kph time of 5.7 seconds, and a top speed of 220kph. Using silicon carbide (SiC) in the 480-amp pulse inverter, the system enhances efficiency and reduces switching losses.
The Macan 4S boasts a new rear-axle motor and a 600-amp SiC pulse inverter, producing a system output of 330 kW (448 PS), with an overboost capability of 380 kW (516 PS).
With Launch Control, it delivers a torque of 820 Nm, accelerates from 0-100kph in 4.1 seconds, and has a top speed of 240kph. The WLTP range is up to 606 km. It includes Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and adaptive air suspension, optimising performance and comfort.
Both variants feature Porsche’s second-generation Macan design with enhanced aerodynamics (cD = 0.25) and an 800-volt architecture allowing for a DC charging capacity of up to 270 kW. This enables the high-voltage battery to charge from 10% to 80% in 21 minutes at suitable fast-charging stations.
The Macan series introduces new customisation options, including the exterior colour Slate Grey Neo and a 20-inch Macan S wheel. Additionally, an off-road design package is available, enhancing the vehicle’s capability on rough terrain with improved approach angles and increased ground clearance.
This package is offered in Vesuvius Grey or the vehicle’s exterior colour, with matching 21-inch off-road wheels.
The new variants integrate the Porsche Driver Experience system, featuring a mix of digital and analog controls.
Highlights include a 12.6-inch curved display instrument cluster, a 10.9-inch passenger display, a head-up display with augmented reality, and customizable ambient lighting.
The upgraded system includes an emotional welcoming animation and a new Themes app, allowing users to match display and lighting colours with the vehicle’s exterior.
