The Kia EV9, set to launch in May, is now open for booking.
The EV9 was recently picked as the 2024 World Car of the Year and World Electric Car, awards that would help sell the car when it shows up in local showrooms.
Based on Kia’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the three-row SUV that can seat up to seven people boasts a range of over 541 km and ultra-fast 800-volt charging that adds 239 km in 15 minutes.
Technological highlights include the Highway Driving Pilot for Level 3 autonomy and the Kia Connect Store for digital upgrades.

In terms of design, the EV9 follows Kia’s “Opposites United”philosophy, blending natural and modern elements for a serene yet contemporary exterior. The GT-line model offers a distinctive aesthetic with exclusive features like the Digital Pattern Lighting Grille.
Performance-wise, the EV9 offers multiple powertrain configurations, including a Rear Wheel Drive Standard model with a 76.1-kWh battery and an All Wheel Drive variant with a 99.8-kWh battery. The Highway Driving Pilot system facilitates Level 3 autonomous driving, while the Kia Connect Store allows for continuous digital upgrades.
Safety features include Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, bolstered by advanced driver assistance systems like Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist and Lane Keeping Assist. The EV9’s chassis structure ensures top-notch protection for occupants and batteries, setting new safety standards in the electric vehicle segment.
