Volvo has opened orders for the 2026 EX90 and outlined key upgrades.
The SUV now runs an 800-volt system instead of 400V, which the company said allows quicker charging with less heat.
With updated battery software, Volvo claims you can add about 250km in roughly 10 minutes at a compatible high-power charger.
Hardware changes also target performance and efficiency. The driver-assistance brain moves to a dual Nvidia Drive Orin computer. Volvo said this extra processing power supports new collision-avoidance tools and speeds future over-the-air updates.
The car can warn drivers about slippery roads, hazards and crashes ahead.
If a driver does not respond to attention prompts, Emergency Stop Assist will stop the car in its lane and trigger an automatic call to a Volvo support centre, which can speak to occupants and reach emergency services if needed.
Automatic emergency steering is improved for low-light conditions, and Park Pilot can handle parallel parking.
Owners of the 2025 EX90 will be offered a free core-computer upgrade at a Volvo workshop, with later software features to follow over the air.
An electrochromic panoramic roof is now standard. Drivers can darken or clear the glass to cut glare or add privacy.
