Stellantis has halted development of a full-size battery-electric Ram 1500 for North America as demand for large EV pickups slows.
In the same move, Ram is renaming its range-extended electric pickup: the Ramcharger badge is being dropped in favour of “Ram 1500 REV,” which the brand says will target class-leading range, towing and payload in the half-ton segment.
This signals that Ram aims to stay in the electrified pickup race without committing to a full BEV in this class for now.
Ram said its broader line-up remains a core strength, spanning the Ram 1500 light-duty, 2500/3500 heavy-duty, 3500/4500/5500 Chassis Cab and ProMaster vans.
Recent pushes include a wider slate of performance-oriented “sport trucks” such as the 1500 RHO, an upmarket Tungsten grade for the 1500, and continued claims around ride comfort and air suspension availability.
On the commercial side, Ram highlights its Chassis Cab features for upfitters and the Ram Professional initiative to sharpen B2B sales and service under Stellantis’ global Pro One commercial-vehicle umbrella.
