Xiaomi has sped into the world of virtual motorsport, announcing a major partnership with Polyphony Digital at the opening round of the Gran Turismo World Series 2025 in London.

As a result, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra — Xiaomi’s flagship high-performance luxury EV — will soon be available to race in Gran Turismo 7 on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. This marks the very first time a Xiaomi vehicle appears in the iconic racing game franchise. It’s also the first Chinese car to do so.

Gran Turismo is celebrated for its attention to real-world physics and vehicle dynamics, earning a reputation as one of the most authentic driving simulators globally.

Its impact goes well beyond entertainment, influencing automotive engineering and bringing together a worldwide community of car enthusiasts.

The addition of the SU7 Ultra highlights the growing influence of smart, high-performance electric vehicles in both the gaming and automotive industries.

The partnership was cemented during a visit to Beijing in May 2025, where Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi met with Xiaomi’s founder and CEO, Lei Jun.

Yamauchi took the SU7 Ultra for a spin and toured Xiaomi’s advanced EV manufacturing facility in Yizhuang. Impressed by Xiaomi’s rapid progress in the automotive sector, Yamauchi praised the SU7 Ultra for surpassing traditional performance benchmarks at Germany’s legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife.

He lauded Xiaomi’s spirit of innovation and relentless pursuit of excellence, qualities he said resonate with Gran Turismo’s own philosophy.

Launched in 2024, the SU7 completed Xiaomi’s vision of a connected ecosystem spanning personal devices, vehicles, and smart homes.

The SU7 Ultra takes this vision further, boasting a proprietary tri-motor HyperEngine V8s system.

Each motor delivers 578 PS and 635 Nm of torque at an astonishing 27,200 rpm, for a combined output of 1,548 PS.

The result? A blistering 0–100kph time of just 1.98 seconds and a top speed exceeding 350kph, with the car holding several lap records for four-door vehicles.

The SU7 Ultra’s chassis features 21 carbon fibre components covering 5.5 square meters, optimizing both weight distribution and luxury feel.

Xiaomi’s R&D team has put the SU7 Ultra through its paces at world-renowned tracks like the Nürburgring, fine-tuning advanced systems such as torque vectoring and adaptive damping.

Chief test driver Zhoucan Ren confirmed that Xiaomi will maintain a dedicated presence at the Nürburgring to continually push the boundaries of EV performance and safety.

The integration of the SU7 Ultra into Gran Turismo 7 ensures that the virtual version faithfully mirrors the real car’s look and driving characteristics.

Looking ahead, Xiaomi and Polyphony Digital plan to deepen their partnership by developing a special Vision Gran Turismo concept car for future inclusion in the game.
