Nissan has revealed two new models at Auto Shanghai 2025 as part of its drive to introduce nine new energy vehicles in China by mid-2027.

The all-new Frontier Pro plug-in hybrid pickup and the Dongfeng Nissan N7 electric sedan together showcased the brand’s push to broaden its lineup with technology-rich, electrified products.

The Frontier Pro, due on sale in China late this year, is Nissan’s first electrified pickup.

Its five-seat, dual-purpose body combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a high-output electric motor for more than 300 kW of combined power and up to 800Nm of torque.

The pickup offers an EV-only range of up to 135km under China’s test cycle.

Its design theme of “Rugged Tech” features a modernised front mask with an illuminated Nissan emblem, five slim LED elements across the hood and a nod to the 1980s D21 hardbody in the central light signature.

Standard 18-inch alloys and 265/65R18 tyres sit under pronounced wheel arches.

A five-link rear suspension and Intelligent All-Wheel Drive with electromechanical rear-diff lock support off-road capability, while four drive modes — Hybrid, Pure Electric, Performance and Snow — allow tailoring to conditions.

The cabin boasts a panoramic roof, 10-inch digital instruments, a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, heated and ventilated front seats with massage function, roof rails, an electronic cargo-bed cover and a vehicle-to-load port supplying up to 6 kW for external devices.

Co-developed with Zhengzhou Nissan, the Frontier Pro will be built at Nissan’s Chinese joint-venture plant for domestic sale, with export markets to follow.

The Dongfeng Nissan N7, which goes on sale this month, is a sleek battery electric sedan offering up to 635km of range on the WLTC cycle.

It features a drag coefficient of 0.208, frameless doors with flush handles, a full-width OLED rear light bar and 710 front LEDs. Two LFP battery capacities — 58 kWh and 73 kWh — power a single front-drive motor delivering 160–200 kW and 305 Nm, with fast-charge capability from 10 to 80 per cent in 19 minutes or from 30 to 80 per cent in 14 minutes.

The N7 employs MacPherson front and multi-link rear suspension, supports motion-sickness mitigation and offers an advanced “Navigate on Autopilot” driver-assist system co-developed with Momenta, handling highway merges, urban lane changes and automated parking.

Its interior centres on comfort and technology, with AI-driven adaptive “zero-pressure” front seats featuring 49 sensors, 12-point massage, pneumatic leg extension and up to 14-speaker audio including dash-mounted units.

A 15.6-inch 2.5K infotainment display powered by a Snapdragon 8295P chip, 32 GB of memory and 256 GB storage drives DeepSeek-R1 AI features.

Ambient lighting offers 256 colours, and a refrigerated centre-armrest compartment serves hot or cold drinks. Pricing for the N7 will be announced later this month.

Together, these launches reflect Nissan’s strategy to revitalise its China portfolio with electrified, tech-infused models that span key segments from pickups to sedans.
