Porsche has secured another milestone with the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package by setting a new electric car lap record at Interlagos in São Paulo.
On Feb 5, Felipe Nasr, a three-time IMSA champion and 24 Hours of Daytona winner, completed the 4.3-kilometre circuit in 1:42.1 minutes, nearly eight seconds faster than the previous record held by the Taycan Turbo S from 2022. His time edged just under the outright production-car record set by the 911 Turbo S at 1:43.087 minutes.
Interlagos, officially known as the Autodrome José Carlos Pace, presents a demanding mix of high-speed straights, technical corners, and significant elevation changes – all of which Nasr navigated with precision.
He praised the car’s strong acceleration and refined handling, particularly its stability under heavy braking and its agile performance in slow corners.
Nasr noted that while the acceleration was formidable, the overall performance of the Taycan Turbo GT was what truly stood out.
Porsche’s achievement at Interlagos marks the fourth lap record set by the Taycan Turbo GT across four continents, following previous records at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, Shanghai International Circuit, and WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in California.
The Taycan Turbo GT models, built for high performance on the racetrack, feature a more powerful inverter and a weight reduction of up to 75kg compared to the Taycan Turbo S.
It is also equipped with Porsche Active Ride suspension and an Attack Mode that boosts power output by up to 120 kW for 10 seconds.
