Geely will give the Monjaro EM-i its European debut at the Paris Motor Show on Oct. 12, presenting the model as its first global D-segment plug-in-hybrid SUV.
The Monjaro EM-i is based on Geely’s GEA-Evo architecture, developed for new-energy vehicles, and incorporates the company’s GEEA 3.0 electrical and electronic architecture. Geely positions the model as a flagship SUV for its international expansion.
Its EM-i Super Hybrid system combines electric drive with a 1.5-litre turbocharged dedicated hybrid engine.
In the previously announced Ultra all-wheel-drive specification, the Monjaro EM-i produces up to 250 kW and 667 Nm and accelerates from 0–100 kph in a claimed 5.83 seconds. Front-wheel-drive Pro and Max variants are also offered in the initial international range.
The SUV measures about 4.8 metres in length and has a 2,845 mm wheelbase. Depending on specification, available hardware includes electric all-wheel drive and Continuous Damping Control suspension.
Geely has yet to publish European pricing, battery capacity or electric range for the Paris-bound vehicle. It has also not confirmed which variants and equipment levels will be offered in individual European markets.
The Monjaro EM-i made its international debut in Cairo on Aug 29, with the UAE, Mexico and Kazakhstan named as further markets ahead of its European expansion.
It will share Geely’s Paris stand with the EX2 and EX5 battery-electric models and the Starray EM-i plug-in hybrid. Geely said the four vehicles signalled its multi-energy strategy across different segments, from compact urban EVs to larger SUVs.
Geely Auto UK managing director Michael Yang said the Paris appearance would demonstrate where the brand is heading as it expands its intelligent and electrified vehicle range in Europe.
