Ferrari has revealed the CZ26, a one-off plug-in hybrid (PHEV) created through its Special Projects programme for a customer in the United States.
The car is based on the SF90 Stradale and keeps its PHEV powertrain and technical specifications. That means a twin-turbocharged V8 working with three electric motors for a combined 1,000 PS (986hp/735kW).
Ferrari’s first series-production PHEV, the SF90 Stradale uses two electric motors on the front axle and a third between the engine and gearbox. The CZ26 leaves that hardware intact but wraps it in completely new bodywork developed by the Ferrari Design Studio under Flavio Manzoni.
The new shape has a low, two-box profile with a strong horizontal theme. A full-width front grille incorporates slim lighting units, brake cooling openings, sensors and other hardware.
Ferrari has also given the nose a near-vertical leading edge, while the rear ends abruptly with a truncated tail, cantilevered lamps and a broad diffuser.
The body is finished in Argento Veloce, a silver colour developed specifically for the project, with Rosso Lampante detailing and pigmented carbon-fibre sections. The roof and pillars are blacked out to make the cabin appear visually separate from the body.
Ferrari also designed new wheels for the CZ26, while natural-finish titanium exhaust outlets remain visible at the rear.
Inside, black technical fabric is paired with satin carbon fibre and bespoke seat inserts made using additive manufacturing. Rosso Lampante accents carry the exterior colour theme into the cabin, joined by embroidered CZ26 logos and gloss carbon-fibre trim containing metallic filaments.
The aerodynamic package was extensively reworked despite the retention of the SF90’s underlying mechanical package.
Ferrari repositioned the central radiator arrangement, added bypass ducts and redesigned the underbody and vortex generators. Air curtains around the front bumper manage turbulence from the front wheels.
At the rear, a large upper spoiler works with a dedicated diffuser to increase downforce. The engine cover also gains new vents to improve heat extraction from the powertrain compartment.
Ferrari said the CZ26 draws some of its visual inspiration from Italian industrial design of the 1970s, although the finished car is far removed from the SF90 Stradale visually.
The CZ26 is a single-client commission rather than a new production model. Its mechanical link to the SF90 Stradale nevertheless makes it one of Ferrari’s bespoke creations built around a plug-in hybrid drivetrain.
