The flagship Tesla Model 3 Performance version has begun delivery in Malaysia.
Customers took delivery of their Model 3 at Tesla’s Cyberjaya Experience Centre aka showroom with more deliveries expected in coming weeks.
Over 100 Model 3 Performance units were delivered today and for tomorrow.
Tesla had announced its global availability in April and online order-taking in Malaysia also started at that time.
The Model 3 Performance is priced at RM242,000. Two cheaper versions are also on sale: Rear-Wheel Drive at RM189,000 and Long Range at RM218,000.
All Tesla Model 3 and Model Y are fully imported from the Testa plant in Shanghai.
As its name indicates, the Model 3 Performance is designed with an updated interior and exterior targeted at customers seeking maximum performance from the electric sedan.
The car accelerates from 0 to 100kph in just 3.1 seconds and offers up to 528km (WLTP) range per single charge.
The Model 3 Performance has dual motors that pushes out Model 3 Performance 460hp/723Nm.
Note that the US-made version is more powerful at 510hp/741Nm but has only a range of 476km. That’s because they used different Li-ion batteries.
The ones coming from China tap a 79kWh LG battery pack, while the US-made units use an 82kWh Panasonic battery.
Designed for ultimate track performance, Model 3 Performance is equipped with new front seats with the Performance badge, brand-new and larger rear spoiler, and an all-new adaptive suspension system to enhance the overall driving experience.
The exterior styling includes red callipers and the Performance badged
rear bumper to distinguish from the lower-priced trims.
Also worth noting is that Tesla Malaysia is offering a new Quicksilver colour for all three Model 3 versions, expanding the exterior colour choices to six. It’s a RM7,500 option, the same price as the Stealth Grey option.
Other colours offered are Pearl White Multi-Coat, Deep Blue Metallic (RM5,000 option), Solid Black (RM5,000) and Ultra Red (RM11,000).
At present, Tesla has 11 Supercharging stations (52 DC chargers) and 11 Destination Charging stations (57 AC chargers) in Malaysia.
