Kia has unveiled the new Kia EV3, a compact electric SUV, marking a significant advancement in the EV sector with its bold design, innovative technology, and groundbreaking features.
The EV3 will launch first in South Korea in July 2024, followed by a European launch in the second half of the year.
Rollouts in Asian markets, including Malaysia, is expected to be in early 2025.
Building on the success of the larger EV9 SUV, the EV3 aims to exceed customer expectations and elevate the perception of EV SUVs.
It offers a WLTP driving range of up to 600km and fast-charging capability, addressing common concerns about electric vehicles.
Kia president and CEO Ho Sung Song said the EV3 is designed to lead the mass adoption of EVs.
The EV3’s exterior design follows Kia’s “Opposites United” philosophy, combining nature and modernity to create a harmonious and dynamic aesthetic. The vehicle features vertical headlamps, a robust interpretation of Kia’s Tiger Face design, and a dynamic silhouette with a hatchback-style tailgate.
The rear design includes thick black trim and geometric rear lamps, contributing to a futuristic look. The EV3 is available in nine body colours, including two exclusive ones: Aventurine Green and Terracotta. The EV3 GT-line offers a more rugged and adventurous appearance with enhanced dynamic design elements.
Inside, the EV3 provides a spacious cabin for five people, designed to offer a living space-like ambiance. The interior features a sliding table, ample storage, multi-adjustable ambient lighting, and ultra-comfortable seats.
A 25-litre frunk and a 460-litre rear load capacity make it practical for various activities. The dashboard includes a near-30-inch widescreen display with intuitive controls and seamless touch operation. The interior options include colors and materials inspired by Air, Earth, and Water elements, incorporating sustainable materials like recycled PET.
The EV3 is built on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) and features Kia’s fourth-generation battery technology. It is offered in two variants: the EV3 Standard with a 58.3kWh battery and the EV3 Long Range with an 81.4kWh battery, both powered by a 150kW/283Nm electric motor.
The vehicle offers a 0-100kph acceleration time of 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 170kph. Enhanced aerodynamics and advanced Battery Management Unit technology contribute to an estimated range of up to 600km (WLTP) for the Long Range variant.

Kia has equipped the EV3 with advanced safety and driving features, including eDTVC Electric Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Highway Driving Assist, and Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist.
The Remote Smart Parking Assist and a 12-inch Head-up Display further enhance the driving experience. The EV3 also features Kia’s new i-Pedal 3.0 regenerative braking technology, allowing for one-pedal driving and improved energy efficiency.
Innovative technology and digital connectivity are central to the EV3, with features like Kia’s Premium Streaming service, in-car gaming, and a Harman Kardon audio system. The vehicle’s dashboard and infotainment system can be personalized with NBA team-inspired Display Themes.
The EV3 is also the first model to feature Kia’s AI Assistant technology, offering intuitive interaction and control of the vehicle’s features. This AI assistant will be rolled out to other EV models in due course.
