SAIC Motor Malaysia made a splash at the KL International Mobility Show 2026 (KLIMS 2026) today, pulling the covers off the local-spec MG ZS and giving Malaysians their first look at the IM6 — a premium all-electric SUV from SAIC’s luxury sub-brand, IM.
The new MG ZS arrives in two variants: the LUX Hybrid+ and the LUX Turbo, though the turbo won’t land until later.
The Hybrid+ is the main act for now, and its numbers are impressive for the segment. It pairs a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine with a 100kW electric motor and a 1.83kWh NCM battery, producing a combined 158kW and 465Nm.
That’s enough to sprint from 0–100kph in 8.7 seconds — quick for a B-segment hybrid SUV. Range stretches to 870km on a full 41-litre tank, and there’s no plug required.
At 4,430mm long and 1,818mm wide, SAIC claims the vehicle is the largest B-segment SUV in class. Boot space is 443 litres, expanding to 1,457 litres with the rear bench folded.
A 12.3-inch floating infotainment screen and digital instrument cluster round things out inside.
On the outside, you get LED “Connected Hunter Eyes” headlights, 18-inch alloys, and a smooth rear spoiler.
Colours at launch are red, silver, black and white, all paired with an all-black interior. Book now during KLIMS with a RM99 deposit and you’ll pocket a RM3,000 rebate plus three years of free servicing.
Managing director Emory Qi was on stage for the reveal alongside Jozef Kaban, SAIC Motor’s VP of Global Design, who offered a peek at where MG’s design language is heading.
Then there’s the IM6. SAIC’s premium IM brand is new to Malaysia, and the IM6 is its calling card.
It’s a large electric SUV — 4,904mm long, 1,988mm wide — with up to 600km of WLTP-rated range, 572kW of power, and 802Nm of torque.
Panoramic roof, ultra-soft leather-style seats, and a raft of smart features complete the package. No pricing yet, but its debut signals SAIC is moving upmarket.
Also on show: the MG HS Hybrid+, MG QS, MGS5 EV, and the Cyberster. The MGS5 EV is priced from RM116,900, with a current KLIMS deal offering a RM7,000 rebate, a free 7kW wall charger (worth RM2,000), and RM1,000 in charging credit.
KLIMS 2026 runs until June 21.
