Sunwoda motorcycle ultra-fast charging battery can hit 80% in 20 minutes

Motorcycle ultra-fast charging battery is the headline product in Sunwoda’s latest battery showcase, with the Chinese supplier claiming an 80% charge in 20 minutes when paired with a 6 kW charger.

The battery was shown at 18th China International Battery Fair in Shenzhen as part of Sunwoda Electronic’s broader “Power Your Each Moment” display.

Sunwoda is positioning the pack for electric motorcycles and light electric vehicles, where downtime can hurt commercial riders more than outright range.

Sunwoda Motorcycle Battery Business general manager Sandy Lv said a delivery rider could plug in during a coffee break and ride out with a usable battery. That is the use case Sunwoda is chasing: short, predictable charging stops instead of long waits.

Sunwoda said the pack keeps temperature variation between cells within 3°C during high-power charging. It is rated for more than 2,000 cycles, has a claimed five-year service life, IPX7 waterproofing, and can operate from -20°C to 60°C. The battery is also said to be compatible with more than 90% of battery-swap stations.

The company has also formed the Ultra-Fast Charging Alliance for Light Electric Mobility with industry partners to support protocol standardisation.

A fast-charging battery alone does not solve the whole problem. Riders still need compatible chargers, safe connectors and a charging network that actually supports the pack’s capability.

Sunwoda said the battery has completed design-in validation with several leading electric motorcycle brands. Pilot deployments are already under way in Hangzhou, while mass production is scheduled for the third quarter of 2026.

The motorcycle battery was not the only product at the booth. Sunwoda also showed passenger EV flash-charging battery technology capable of up to 1,800 A, marine battery systems, and energy storage cells ranging from 102 Ah to 684 Ah for residential, commercial, industrial and utility-scale use.

Sunwoda is also talking up recycling, recycled-material use and battery-passport implementation.
