Nissan has updated the Ariya for model year 2026, giving its electric crossover a cleaner front end, improved comfort and more useful tech for daily EV use.

The exterior changes are fairly restrained. Nissan has reworked the front appearance with a body-colour panel and a revised V-Motion signature, giving the Ariya a smoother, less fussy face.

New 19-inch wheels combine aluminium and resin elements, while a new Plasma Green paint option joins the colour range.

Inside, the centre console has been redesigned to free up more storage, now up to 3.2 litres. There is also a newer 15 W wireless charger, which should be useful given how much phone mirroring and app use happens in modern EVs.

The bigger update is software. The 2026 Ariya gets the latest NissanConnect system with Google built-in.

Google Maps can plan routes with charging stops based on the car’s real-time battery level, while the car can pre-condition the battery as it approaches a charging station to help speed up charging.

Owners can also use the NissanConnect Services app to check battery level, manage charging, adjust cabin temperature and monitor tyre pressures.

Charging hardware is also revised. The Ariya now has an 11 kW bi-directional onboard AC charger and Vehicle-to-Load support. With the right connector, the car can supply up to 3 kW to external devices while parked, enough for items such as a laptop or small cooker. DC rapid charging is rated at up to 130 kW.

Nissan has also retuned the suspension for better ride comfort, with the company claiming improved stability and reduced vibration over longer journeys.

ProPILOT driver assistance has been updated too, with quicker responses and smoother adjustment in stop-go traffic.

The 2026 Ariya is due to go on sale from June, priced from £37,000 (RM198,000), with first deliveries expected from September.

For Nissan, the Ariya remains its flagship electric crossover. This update should make it easier to live with, especially for buyers who want better route planning, home-style power output and a more polished cabin experience.
