Chery has unveiled the Tiggo V at Auto China 2026, pitching it as a three-in-one family vehicle that can work as an SUV, MPV or pick-up-style load carrier.
The model made its debut in Beijing as part of Chery’s “For Family” push, with Chery brand CEO Jeff Zhang saying the company wants to focus on practical family use rather than just design or powertrain claims.
Chery described the “V” in Tiggo V as standing for versatility, value and victory.
Chery is trying to make the Tiggo V do three jobs in one body. In SUV mode, the Tiggo V has 220mm of ground clearance. The plug-in hybrid version is claimed to offer 700mm of wading depth, while the petrol version manages 650mm. Chery also said the vehicle supports automatic parking assist and remote parking assist.
Switch it into MPV mode and the Tiggo V uses its 2,800mm wheelbase to provide a three-row, seven-seat cabin. Chery also claims 42 storage areas and an N95-grade cabin filtration set-up. In pick-up mode, a quick-detach barrier expands its cargo function, with factory accessories available for outdoor and load-carrying use.
Powertrain details are still limited, but Chery said the Tiggo V uses its sixth-generation Chery Super Hybrid system in PHEV form. A petrol version is also part of the plan, based on the official wading-depth split between PHEV and ICE versions.
Chery is also using the Beijing show to restate its wider global ambitions. The Chinese carmaker said it wants to reach 10 million export customers worldwide by 2030, roughly double its current overseas customer base.
The company said it now operates in more than 120 countries and regions, with a global network that includes eight R&D centres, 36 production bases, more than 2,000 dealers and over 1,800 service centres. Chery is also China’s largest vehicle exporter and is listed in the Fortune Global 500 at No. 233.
In the UK, Chery said its local division has sold more than 13,500 cars from September 2025 to March 2026, after launching the brand there in August 2025. March sales reached 4,544 units, which Chery said was three times the previous month’s figure.
The Tiggo V is clearly aimed at families who want one car to do several jobs, from school runs to weekend trips and light hauling. Whether the execution is as clever as the concept will depend on final specifications, market pricing and how easily the body can be reconfigured in daily use.
