BMW Group Malaysia ended 2024 with strong sales, driven by the performance of its electric vehicle lineup.

The iX2 and iX5 were standout models, with the iX2 xDrive30 M Sport leading the i segment by delivering over 460 units within nine months of its launch in April. The i5 eDrive40 M Sport followed with more than 400 units sold, reinforcing the company’s position in the premium electric vehicle market.

Overall, BMW Group Malaysia delivered over 13,500 vehicles across its BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad brands, 66% of which were locally assembled.

Electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles accounted for 20.5% of total deliveries, with over 2,700 electrified units sold in 2024. To date, nearly 33,000 electrified vehicles from the BMW Group are on Malaysian roads.

In the premium Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) category, the X1 sDrive20i emerged as the best-selling model with nearly 1,500 deliveries, marking a 195% growth over its 2023 debut. The X4 xDrive30i M Sport Pro and X5 xDrive50e M Sport also contributed significantly, with close to 700 and 400 units sold, respectively.

MINI Malaysia delivered over 1,400 vehicles, led by the locally assembled MINI Countryman with more than 340 units.

The electric Countryman SE ALL4 recorded over 320 deliveries within seven months.

Meanwhile, BMW Motorrad delivered over 1,600 motorcycles, maintaining its performance from 2023, with the R 1250 GS Adventure leading its Adventure segment.

Globally, the BMW Group delivered over 2.45 million vehicles, with over 426,000 fully electric vehicles marking a 13.5% growth in that segment. Locally, BMW Group Malaysia expanded its EV charging network to over 2,020 facilities, supporting broader adoption of electrified mobility.

BMW Group Malaysia also highlighted its 20th anniversary of the Regional Parts Distribution Centre, which saw significant upgrades to support sustainability and efficiency. As the largest exporter of vehicles from Malaysia to Asean, the company continues to play a strategic role in the region’s automotive landscape.

The media briefing by BMW Group Malaysia managing director Benjamin Nagel today preceded the launch of the  i4 eDrive35 M Sport and R 12 motorcycle, priced at RM294,800 (extra RM20,800 for optional 5-year extended warranty and service package) and RM123,000 respectively.

Two other vehicles with tentative pricing were also unveiled: 530i M Sport from RM400,000 (estimated) and Countryman S ALL4 from RM259,000 (estimated). Both are locally assembled.
