The opening of Lotus Cars Malaysia first flagship showroom in Glenmarie, Shah Alam today was headlined by the official launch of the Emeya Hyper-GT, an all-electric four-door sports sedan that promises to set new standards in the grand tourer (GT) segment.
The Emeya arrives in three versions: the Emeya, Emeya S and Emeya R, priced at RM555,000, RM643,000, and RM777,000 respectively. These prices are on-the-road, excluding road tax and insurance, and are applicable only for Peninsular Malaysia.
The Emeya Hyper-GT represents Lotus’ first foray into the electric GT segment and has its sights set on the Porsche Taycan.
As the company’s third electric vehicle offering in Malaysia, following the Electre SUV and the ultra-limited RM16 million Evija hypercar, the Emeya is another facet of the brand’s commitment to combining luxury with high performance in the electric vehicle market.
The Emeya is engineered with a full-time all-wheel drive system, powered by a dual-motor configuration that delivers between 603hp and 905hp, with torque ranging from 710Nm to 985Nm.
The car can accelerate from 0-100kph in just 4.2 seconds, with the top-tier Emeya R variant achieving this in under 2.8 seconds, making it one of the fastest electric GTs in the world.
One of the key highlights of the Emeya is its advanced aerodynamic design. It features an active front grille, rear diffuser, and an active dual-layer rear spoiler that offers a net downforce of more than 215kg, ensuring high stability and handling at high speeds.
The electronically controlled air suspension system, capable of adjusting to road conditions 1,000 times per second, further enhances the driving experience by providing a smooth and confident ride.
Lotus has also placed a strong emphasis on sustainability in the design of the Emeya.
The interior is crafted from a mix of luxury materials and sustainable options, including a new luxury thread made from repurposed fibers from the fashion industry, PVD aluminium, Alcantara, Nappa leather, and Ultrafabrics PU.
The Emeya is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including an industry-leading 55-inch augmented reality (AR) head-up display (HUD) that integrates real-time road information, navigation, and a full suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
This system enhances safety and ensures that drivers have all the necessary information at their fingertips.
On the Emeya’s charging capabilities, it can add 150km of range in just five minutes using a 350kW DC fast charger. With the car’s 800V architecture, it can boost its range from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes.
The unveiling of the Emeya at the new Lotus Kuala Lumpur showroom is a significant step for Lotus as it continues to expand its footprint in the electric vehicle market.
The Emeya is backed by a 5-year/150,000km warranty. In addition, the high-voltage battery gets an 8-year/200,000km warranty.
The flagship showroom, named Lotus Kuala Lumpur, spans 1,765 square feet, with 987 square feet dedicated to the main showroom area. This space complements the existing Lotus Store at Pavilion Damansara Heights, which opened earlier this year.
The new showroom is designed to offer a luxurious experience for Lotus customers, featuring bespoke customer delivery bays, a well-appointed lounge, a dedicated merchandising area, and a configurator room where customers can personalise every aspect of their vehicle.
