ClearMotion, a Boston-based specialist in innovative chassis systems, has partnered with Porsche AG to enhance the performance of Porsche’s already dynamic chassis through advanced technologies.
The US company did not reveal which Porsche models would get its ClearMotion1 suspension system but said it could be used in both combustion engine cars and electric cars without having to redesign the vehicles.
ClearMotion1 aims to revolutionise the driving experience by adapting to road conditions to provide a smoother ride.
This collaboration will focus on integrating ClearMotion, a high-bandwidth active suspension system, and RoadMotion, software that proactively controls the chassis by analysing road surfaces.
This initiative, confirmed by a license agreement, may extend to other brands within the Volkswagen Group in the future. Ingo Albers, Vice President of Drive System at Porsche, expressed optimism about the potential for a deeper future collaboration, while ClearMotion CEO Christian Steinmann anticipated significant advancements in driving experience and a strengthening of their presence in the European market.
In a significant development for ClearMotion, the company announced last December a major production order from NIO, a leader in global electric vehicles.
This order will see three million units of ClearMotion’s patented ClearMotion1 technology used in NIO’s next-generation vehicles, starting with their flagship ET9 model.
