Xiaomi’s new SkyNomad extended-range electric SUVs proved difficult to get near at the 2026 Chengdu Motor Show, where the N90 and smaller N70 drew a steady crowd keen to try their unusual reconfigurable cabins.
Chengdu was its motor-show debut and the first major public hands-on showing of the production cabins.
Local and overseas visitors were seen climbing aboard, tapping through the large central displays, trying the steering wheel and controls, and moving between the seating rows.
One feature drew particular attention: the front seats can turn rearwards when the vehicle is parked, allowing occupants to sit face-to-face with passengers behind.
Xiaomi combines this with a flat cabin floor and long seat rails, allowing the interior to be rearranged for different uses. A sliding centre island can also move between the first and second rows in the N90.
A cutaway N90 on the stand gave visitors a clearer view of the packaging and interior layout, with a Xiaomi representative explaining the vehicle’s features in Chinese as the model prepares for its home market launch.
The flagship N90 Max is a 5,285mm-long seven-seater with a 3,080mm wheelbase and a 2+2+3 seating layout. Xiaomi quotes 577 litres of luggage capacity with all seven seats available, rising to 1,831 litres when the rear seats are moved forward.
Its extended-range drivetrain combines a 76kWh ternary lithium battery, a petrol range extender and dual electric motors producing a combined 310kW. Xiaomi claims 464km of pure-electric range and 1,705km combined under the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC), while 0-100kph takes 5.9 seconds.
The five-seat N70 Max is shorter at 4,960mm, with a 2,950mm wheelbase, but uses the same 310kW dual-motor output. Its 76kWh battery delivers a claimed 505km CLTC electric range, while combined range is 1,461km. Xiaomi quotes 0-100kph in 5.5 seconds.
Pre-sale prices are 259,900 yuan (about RM156,000) for the N70 Max and 299,900 yuan (about RM180,000) for the N90 Max. Both are due to formally enter the Chinese market in September.
