Acura has unveiled the RSX Prototype at Monterey Car Week, previewing a dramatically styled, all-electric performance SUV that will lead the brand’s next phase of electrification.
Finished in “Propulsion Yellow Pearl”, the show car anchors appearances at The Quail today and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance Concept Lawn on Aug 17.
The production RSX, arriving in the second half of 2026, will be the first Acura engineered on Honda’s new, in-house EV platform and the first Acura EV built at the company’s flexible “EV Hub” manufacturing complex in Ohio.
Assembly will take place on the Marysville Auto Plant line alongside the Acura Integra, underscoring Honda’s mixed-production strategy that allows internal-combustion, hybrid and battery-electric models to be built on the same equipment using domestic and globally sourced parts.
Acura positions the RSX as its entry into the software-defined era, debuting Asimo OS, which is Honda’s global vehicle operating system.
Asimo OS will coordinate automated-driving and driver-assistance controllers, infotainment and other vehicle domains, run third-party applications, and accept over-the-air updates. Through machine learning, it is designed to learn driver preferences and habits to tailor features and services over time.
Technical highlights destined for the production model include standard dual-motor all-wheel drive, a sport-tuned double-wishbone front suspension, a low centre of gravity and Brembo brakes, targeting the brand’s “Precision Crafted Performance” brief.
The RSX will also support vehicle-to-load functions, enabling the SUV to power appliances and act as home back-up energy storage, aligning with Honda’s carbon-neutrality goals. Acura says its latest driver-assist systems will be advanced further on the RSX.
The design follows last year’s Acura Performance EV Concept, translating its themes into a coupe-influenced SUV.
The RSX Prototype adopts a fastback roofline, deeply sculpted flanks, flush door handles and an integrated ducktail-style rear spoiler. A long wheelbase pushes the wheels to the corners for short overhangs and a planted stance.
Flared arches house large multi-spoke 21-inch wheels that expose sizeable front Brembo calipers.
The front treatment evolves Acura’s Diamond Pentagon signature with a bolder interpretation and a split-lighting arrangement: sharp, slim daytime running lamps sit above low-mounted LED headlamps.
At the rear, a full-width light bar nods to the second-generation NSX, paired with new “ACURA” script across the tailgate.
Acura has not announced power, range or pricing, but stresses the RSX’s role as a clean-sheet EV developed within Honda’s own architecture and software stack.
