Kia UK has confirmed the specifications and pricing for its new EV4 Fastback, introducing the brand’s first four-door electric sedan.
Sharing the EV4 hatchback’s underpinnings, the Fastback is built on Kia’s Electric-Global Modular Platform and features an 81.4 kWh battery pack and single front-mounted motor delivering 150kW (201bhp) and 283Nm.
It accelerates from 0–100kph in 7.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 169kph. Kia said the WLTP range is 611km.
Aerodynamic efficiency has been prioritised in the Fastback’s design. Active Air Flaps in the front bumper open automatically to regulate cooling, while a near-full underbody cover over 82.5% of the floor reduces drag.
The swooping roofline and boattail rear contribute to a drag coefficient of 0.23 Cd, and the extended rear overhang allows a 490 litre boot.
Compared with the hatchback, the Fastback is 300mm longer and 5mm lower, enhancing its sedan silhouette without losing space.
Charging convenience is delivered via 400 V technology.
The long-range battery can charge from 10–80 per cent in 31 minutes when connected to a 350 kW DC fast charger and in 7 hours 15 minutes on an 11 kW AC supply.
Standard equipment includes Kia’s Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) with dual 12.3-inch screens, a 5.3-inch climate control display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and built-in Kia Connect for seven years.
The EV4 Fastback, which competes with the Tesla Model 3 and Polestar 2, also debuts Kia’s AI Assistant, powered by ChatGPT.
Activated by “Hey Kia”, the voice-control system supports natural language interaction, enabling functions such as travel planning, point-of-interest suggestions and infotainment features.
GT-Line S variants add front premium relaxation seats that recline almost flat, plus two cabin modes — Rest and Theatre — that optimise seating, lighting and display settings for resting or media playback during charging stops.
Safety and convenience technologies are extensive.
All Fastback versions feature LED lighting, heated seats and steering wheel, rain-sensing wipers, keyless start, three-screen instrument and infotainment layout, reversing camera with parking sensors, and a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance systems including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Highway Driving Assist, Lane Follow Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance, and Multi-Collision Braking.
Finally, the prices.
The entry-level EV4 Fastback GT-Line is priced from £40,895 (RM233,000) OTR, with 19-inch alloy wheels, flush door handles, gloss-black detailing and ambient lighting distinguishing it from the hatchback.
The flagship GT-Line S starts at £45,395 (RM259,000) OTR and adds LED matrix headlights, heated and ventilated front seats, electric rear windows, smart tailgate, eight-speaker Harman Kardon audio, 360-degree view monitor, Vehicle-to-Load capability and an optional heat pump for £900 (RM5,128) extra.
