Jaguar has unveiled the Type 01 in New York, launching its new generation of luxury electric cars with more than 1,000PS and a starting price of £130,000 (RM704,439).
The four-door electric GT is the first production model built on the dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA), and Jaguar describes it as its most powerful and aerodynamic road car yet.
Its tri-motor drivetrain uses one electric motor at the front and two at the rear, allowing individual control of the rear wheels. The car accelerates from 0–100kph in 3.2 seconds.
The motors draw power from a 118kWh battery. Jaguar’s 850-volt electrical system supports DC charging at up to 350kW and a WLTP range of 724km. The company said 322km can be added in 13 minutes at the maximum charging rate.
At about 5.2 metres long, with a 3.2-metre wheelbase and standard 23-inch wheels, the Type 01 is closer in scale to a large luxury GT than a conventional sports saloon.
The cabin is configured for four occupants, separated by a high centre console running through the interior. The dashboard uses a relatively small dedicated 7-inch vertical screen for climate and media functions rather than a conventional large central touchscreen.
A separate display shows the feed from the rear-facing camera because the Type 01 has no conventional rear window.
Most vehicle functions are handled through a 24-inch display positioned ahead of the occupants.
The production design remains close to the Type 00 concept, retaining its long bonnet, low roofline and sweeping profile.
The Type 01 is designed, developed and built in the UK. Orders will open in early 2027, with first customer deliveries scheduled for the second half of the year.
