Zeekr has unveiled new lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries capable of ultra-fast 5.5C charging, enabling its vehicles to charge from 10% to 80% in just 10.5 minutes.
This breakthrough, featured in the new 007 sedan model, surpasses existing nickel-cobalt-manganese battery performance and highlights advancements by Zeekr’s in-house e-powertrain R&D team.
Ultra-fast 5.5C charging refers to a high-speed battery charging technology capable of charging a battery at a rate 5.5 times its capacity per hour.
In battery terminology, “C-rate” measures the rate at which a battery is charged or discharged relative to its capacity.
A 1C rate means a battery will fully charge or discharge in one hour. A 5.5C rate means the battery charges or discharges in about 1/5.5th of an hour (around 10.9 minutes).
The upgraded battery management system ensures consistent charging speed even in extreme temperatures.
At -10°C, vehicles can achieve a 10% to 80% charge in just 30 minutes, offering reliable performance in cold conditions.
Zeekr currently operates over 500 ultra-fast charging stations in China, with more than 2,700 chargers supporting 800V technology.
The company aims to expand to 1,000 stations in 2024 and over 10,000 chargers by 2026.
Additionally, Zeekr announced its urban Navigation Zeekr Pilot (NZP) driving assistance system, set to launch in August.
Integrated with Zeekr’s AI assistant, Eva, the system provides intelligent navigation and situational advice, enhancing the user experience.
