XPeng has confirmed that the first locally assembled G6 has rolled off the line at EPMB Malaysia, marking another step in the Chinese electric vehicle maker’s regional production plan.

The company announced the milestone through its official LinkedIn account, calling it part of XPeng’s wider Asean journey. The post did not give production volume, pricing or delivery timing for the Malaysia-built G6.

The X9 electric MPV would be the next model lined up for local assembly, which is expected to take place in the next few months.

The G6 rollout follows XPeng’s partnership with EP Manufacturing Berhad (EPMB), announced in December 2025, to begin localised production of intelligent electric vehicles in Malacca.

Under the plan, XPeng said it would use EPMB’s manufacturing know-how and local capacity to build electric vehicles for Malaysian and regional buyers.

The development is significant for Malaysia because it signals XPeng’s intention to deepen its presence here rather than rely solely on imported vehicles.

Like several other Chinese EV brands, the company appears to be positioning itself for longer-term growth, with local assembly potentially offering greater flexibility in meeting demand, improving operational efficiency and strengthening after-sales support.

Any impact on G6 pricing, however, has yet to be confirmed.

The G6 was XPeng’s first model for Malaysia when the brand entered the market in 2024. It remains the company’s more accessible model here, sitting below the larger X9 electric multipurpose vehicle.

XPeng has described Malaysia as part of its broader push into right-hand-drive markets in the region. The first locally assembled G6 gives that plan a physical starting point.

XPeng is represented by Bermaz Xpeng Sdn Bhd. XPeng’s move last year to establish a direct Malaysia operation appears to sharpen the brand’s local control rather than signal an immediate split from Bermaz, which remains the distributor for now.
