Denza will launch the new Z9S electric saloon in China on Sept 23, with the longest-range version offering a claimed 1,100km of CLTC range — a figure the BYD-owned premium brand says sets a record for a mass-production pure-electric car.
The Z9S went on pre-sale on Aug 3 with three variants starting from 319,800 yuan (about RM195,400). Denza positions it as a technology-focused luxury electric saloon, joining the existing Z9 and Z9GT.
Range options are rated at 780km, 920km and 1,100km under China’s CLTC cycle. The figures should not be compared directly with WLTP or US EPA ratings, which use different test procedures.
Denza said the Z9S uses its second-generation Blade Battery with flash-charging technology. The company claims a 10% to 97% charge takes about nine minutes.
Two rear-wheel-drive versions use single motors rated at 320kW and 370kW, while the three-motor all-wheel-drive model develops a combined 890kW. The performance version is claimed to reach 100kph in 2.68 seconds.
The Z9S also gets Denza’s e³/Yi San Fang vehicle-control technology, rear-wheel steering and DiSus-A air suspension. Its God’s Eye B lidar-assisted driver-assistance hardware uses the latest God’s Eye 5.0 model, supporting urban and highway navigation assistance as well as automated parking.
At 5,090mm long with a 3,025mm wheelbase, the Z9S is 130mm shorter than the Z9 EV, with 100mm less between the axles.
Final pricing has yet to be announced ahead of the Sept 23 launch.
