Pro-NET has certified its first batch of 37 Proton e.MAS electric vehicle technicians as it expands aftersales support for a growing number of EV customers in Malaysia.

The technicians, drawn from 25 authorised Proton e.MAS dealerships, completed the Level 2 e.MAS Technician Certification Programme conducted with TVETMARA.

The qualification covers seven training modules, including high-voltage system work, followed by technical assessments.

TVETMARA Masjid Tanah served as independent verifier, with successful participants required to meet the programme’s competency standards.

Pro-NET CEO Zhang Qiang said developing technical skills was necessary alongside putting more electrified vehicles on the road. He said the programme was intended to raise aftersales standards and build a workforce capable of supporting customers throughout EV ownership.

More than 30,000 Proton e.MAS vehicles were on Malaysian roads as of July 2026, increasing the need for trained personnel able to work safely on high-voltage systems.

The Proton e.MAS network currently comprises 58 dealerships, 45 service centres and 10 Body & Paint centres nationwide.

Pro-NET plans to run certification programmes annually at Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4, giving technicians a structured route towards more advanced EV skills.

The training initiative also complements Proton’s move into local EV manufacturing. Pro-NET is developing production capabilities at the Proton EV plant in Automotive High Tech Valley, Tanjong Malim, which currently supports 391 employees.

The ceremony brought together Pro-NET, TVETMARA, dealer principals and service managers from selected dealerships.
