Daniel Craig has become the new face of Denza as BYD moves Denza further into overseas markets ahead of its first European model launch.
BYD said the British actor would feature in campaign work for several Denza vehicles due this year, including marketing materials and television commercials.
Denza is due to launch the Z9GT shooting brake in Europe on April 8 at the Palais Garnier in Paris, giving the brand a big public launch platform as it tries to build recognition beyond China.
Malaysia is also expected to get the Z9GT in due course, with the model already featured in official local brand activity.
BYD is pitching Denza as a technology-led premium marque with a more polished, design-heavy image, and Craig’s role is plainly meant to add some instant familiarity in overseas markets.
BYD executive vice president Stella Li said Craig’s mix of strength, sophistication and authenticity matched what Denza wanted to represent.
That is standard launch language, of course, but the Paris event will show whether the brand has more than image to sell.
