Great Wall Motor (GWM) has teased the first SUV developed on its new “Guiyuan” platform, releasing a set of spy shots after the platform’s Jan 16 debut.

According to Chinese automotive platform Yiche , the SUV has a long, stretched profile with a closed-off nose, split headlamps, roof-mounted LiDAR and what appears to be a full-width rear light bar, adding that the steering wheel logo suggests it could be a new flagship for GWM’s Wey brand.

Yiche also published key figures it said apply to a Guiyuan-based D-segment SUV: 0–100kph in 4.4 seconds, WLTC combined driving range of up to 1,300km, pure-electric range of 363km, and a depleted-battery fuel consumption figure of 6.3L/100km.

It added that fast energy recovery is supported and rear-wheel steering is a possible feature.

GWM’s own website lists an official announcement dated Jan 6 confirming the platform name “Guiyuan”.

That naming, according to Gasgoo’s report of the company’s announcement, followed an online public vote initiated by GWM Group chairman Wei Jianjun. Gasgoo said about 96,000 participants cast 112,000 votes, with “Guiyuan” winning on 22,000 votes.

As described in the same company-backed summary, GWM positions Guiyuan around a “one vehicle, multiple powertrains; one vehicle, multiple segments; one vehicle, multiple forms” idea, pitched as a common base for a wider pipeline of models and technologies.

On the technology side, Yiche reported that Guiyuan incorporates GWM’s Coffee EEA 4.0 electronic architecture and an in-car AI OS, with the stated goal of letting AI functions run across the vehicle.

Yiche also said GWM plans to publish a diesel-hybrid system based on Guiyuan, claiming lower fuel consumption versus petrol hybrids, with a deeper user experience activity planned for March alongside detailed performance and measured figures.
