Lamborghini has given the Urus SE the Performante treatment, turning its plug-in hybrid Super SUV into a lighter, sharper and more powerful variant.
The new Urus SE Performante keeps the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 and permanent-magnet electric motor layout from the Urus SE, but total output rises to 812PS, or 596kW, with 1,000Nm of torque. That makes it the most powerful Urus yet.
Compared with the previous petrol-only Urus Performante, output is up by 146PS and 150Nm, while top speed rises from 306kph to 312kph.
It is quick in the usual ridiculous Lamborghini way. The 0-100kph run takes 3.3 seconds, while 0-200kph is done in 10.8 seconds.
Lamborghini calls it the fastest Super SUV in the world, which is a very Lamborghini thing to say and, on the numbers, not difficult to understand.
There is still a sensible side, at least by Sant’Agata standards.
The 25.9kWh lithium-ion battery sits under the load floor and allows more than 60km of electric driving. In EV mode, the Urus SE Performante can also reach more than 130kph without waking the V8.
Lamborghini has trimmed 32kg from the Urus SE, bringing homologated kerb weight down to 2,473kg.
Carbon fibre is used for the bonnet, roof, wheel arches, side skirts and rear diffuser, while a titanium Akrapovic exhaust comes as standard and saves more than 10kg by itself.
The bodywork has not been reshaped just for the camera. Lamborghini says aerodynamic drag is 3% lower than the Urus SE, while downforce is up 23%. Brake cooling has also improved by 8%, helped by a new NACA duct.
Underneath, the new AURA dual-chamber air suspension gives the Urus SE Performante a wider spread between comfort and attack mode.
Lamborghini says roll gradient during sporty driving is down by 55%, while comfort-related vibrations are reduced by 25% compared with the previous Urus Performante.
There is also a new Rally mode, joining Strada, Sport, Corsa and EV mode. So yes, this is a 812PS plug-in hybrid SUV that can run silently in town, then go sideways on gravel if the owner is brave enough.
Inside, the cabin gets CorsaTex by Dinamica trim, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch centre touchscreen with updated graphics inspired by the Revuelto.
Lamborghini has not announced pricing yet.
