Nissan has launched the third-generation Leaf in Copenhagen and confirmed production at Sunderland.
The car returns with a crossover-inspired body, a slick 0.25 drag figure and a choice of two batteries: 52 kWh for a quoted 436km, or 75 kWh for up to 621km (WLTP).
Design tweaks include flush door handles, new lighting and optional 19-inch wheels. A panoramic roof is available, and seven paint colours return, including Luminous Teal.
The bigger battery pairs with a 215 bhp motor and 355 Nm, good for 0–100kph in 7.6 seconds when Sport mode is selected.
Nissan said the 75 kWh version can manage about 433km at a steady 113 kph and around 7.2 km/kWh in gentle driving. Rapid charging at up to 150 kW can add a claimed 439 km in around half an hour.
The car sits on the CMF-EV hardware used by the Ariya, with MacPherson struts in front and a multi-link rear.
Inside, two 14.3-inch displays run a refreshed NissanConnect system with built-in Google services.
Maps handle charger routing, Google Assistant takes voice commands and apps are available through Google Play. The cabin seats five and offers 437 litres of boot space. A powered tailgate and roof rails are optional.
Safety and assistance features include ProPILOT with route guidance, emergency braking, blind-spot intervention and rear cross-traffic alert.
A surround-view camera can show a wide-angle front view and an “invisible bonnet” perspective to help place the car. One-pedal driving returns via e-Pedal Step, while paddles on the wheel adjust regeneration.
The Leaf can power external kit through Vehicle-to-Load at up to 3.1 kW, useful for camping or work tools. Nissan says Vehicle-to-Grid—selling energy back to the grid—will come later.
“The all-new Leaf represents exactly what our customers are looking for,” said Clíodhna Lyons, Nissan’s regional vice-president for product and services planning in Europe and AMIEO, citing the car’s long range and connected features.
Sunderland will assemble the car using 20% renewable energy. Pre-orders open before the end of 2025, with first deliveries due in spring 2026. Prices would be announced closer to launch.
