Audi distributor PHS Automotive Malaysia (PHSAM) has bolstered its presence in the premium luxury segment with the introduction of the locally assembled Audi Q7 flagship.
Set for launch in May, the new Q7 will be available in a competitive price bracket ranging between RM469,000 and RM489,000. Final pricing will be announced at launch.
As a mild hybrid, the Q7 is not a fully-electric vehicle. The mild hybrid system is designed to boost operating efficiency and reduce emissions by supplementing the internal combustion engine rather than replacing it with full electric power.
The Q7 model features an athletic design enhanced by the S line trim and the standard Black Styling Package Plus, which adds bold accents such as the black Audi Singleframe mask, distinctive Q7 badge, anthracite grey rings and a roof edge spoiler.
The design is further complemented by 22-inch Audi Sports 5-V-spoke star wheels.
Under the bonnet, the Q7 is powered by a 3.0-litre TFSI V6 petrol engine delivering 250 kW (340 PS) and 500Nm of torque. This powertrain is augmented by a 48V Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle system, enabling the Q7 to accelerate from 0 to 100kph in just 5.6 seconds while reaching a top speed of 250kph.
An 8-speed Tiptronic transmission coupled with the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system ensures optimal performance, with Audi Drive Select offering up to seven driving modes.
The Q7 is equipped with new HD Matrix LED headlights featuring Audi Laser Light and Digital OLED rear lamps, enhancing both visibility and style.
The vehicle also boasts adaptive technologies such as the Adaptive Air Suspension Sport and All-Wheel Steering for improved ride quality and manoeuvrability. Advanced safety features—including Audi Pre-sense, Side Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Assist and Lane Departure Warning—further underscore Audi’s commitment to driver and passenger safety.
The luxurious cabin offers seating in Valcona leather with an embossed S badge and a range of premium amenities, including an Ambient Lighting Package Plus, ensuring a refined driving experience.
Notably, the Q7 and the Volkswagen Touareg share the same underlying architecture, using the Volkswagen Group’s MLB Evo platform.
This shared platform, also employed by models such as the Porsche Cayenne, Bentley Bentayga and Lamborghini Urus, enables efficient use of shared components and manufacturing processes.
The facelifted third-generation Touareg has been locally assembled at the HICOM Automotive Manufacturers plant in Pekan, Pahang, since early 2024.
This common engineering basis between the Touareg and Q7 not only streamlines production but also shows that the technical requirements for local assembly are well within the capabilities of the Pekan plant.
