The Kia EV3 has been named the 2025 World Car of the Year at the World Car Awards ceremony held during the New York International Auto Show.
A jury of 96 automotive journalists from 30 countries selected the EV3 for its blend of design, technology and sustainability, marking Kia’s sixth victory in this competition since 2020.
Drawing on the design language of its flagship EV9, the EV3 combines a bold exterior with a functional cabin that maximises space and comfort.
It offers a claimed range of up to 603km and supports rapid charging from 10% to 80% in 31 minutes. The model features Kia’s AI Assistant, advanced driver-assistance systems and over-the-air update capability to keep its software and services current.
Interior innovations include versatile storage solutions, intuitive controls and premium materials, while exterior styling emphasises clean lines and aerodynamic efficiency to enhance both range and refinement.
Kia affiliate Hyundai had a reason to cheer. Its INSTER secured the title of 2025 World Electric Vehicle. The accolade marks the fourth consecutive year that a Hyundai-branded model has topped one or more categories at the World Car Awards.
As a sub-compact electric vehicle, the INSTER stands out with its distinctive styling and competitive driving range. The long-range 49 kWh version delivers up to 370km on a single charge and can replenish its battery from 10% to 80% in around 30 minutes.
The model’s rapid-charging capability, coupled with its practical dimensions and intuitive infotainment systems, underpins its recognition for innovation and value in the EV segment.
