The Kia EV3 achieved the highest “Very Good” score in the Euro NCAP evaluation of assisted driving systems, marking the first time a model from Kia — and the wider Hyundai Motor Group — has earned this distinction.
Euro NCAP’s test assessed the EV3’s Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2), which integrates real-time driver monitoring, adaptive cruise control and lane-centring functions.
In the assessment, HDA 2 was evaluated in two categories: “assistance competence” and “safety backup,” where the EV3 scored 74 and 88 out of 100 points respectively, accumulating a total of 162 points.
Euro NCAP noted that HDA 2 delivers strong vehicle assistance while maintaining driver engagement across diverse, real-world scenarios, such as changing lanes, maintaining lane position at different speeds and bringing the vehicle to a halt if the driver becomes unresponsive.
Combined with robust safety backup, the system offers “very good” highway assistance.
The EV3 is Kia’s dedicated high-volume electric compact SUV, designed to serve as a primary family vehicle.
It was named 2025 World Car of the Year at the World Car Awards.
Now available in Europe, the EV3 offers a segment-leading range of up to 603km on a single charge and features an innovative interior layout optimised for space, comfort and accessibility.
Kia plans to expand the lineup with an all-wheel-drive variant later this year.
