CATL has opened its largest Ning Service centre outside Asia in Oslo, giving the battery maker a bigger foothold in one of the world’s most mature electric-car markets.
The 8,000sq m facility will serve Norway and the wider Nordic region, covering battery testing, maintenance, repair, second-life use and recycling. It will also train local technicians.
Norway is a logical base. Battery-electric vehicles accounted for 98.7% of new passenger-car registrations in August 2026, a record monthly share.
CATL said Ning Service is trying to shift more aftermarket work from outright battery replacement towards repair. Its so-called deep-repair capability covers 76.8% of EV models, while turnaround for complex jobs has been reduced from 72 to 48 hours.
The Oslo centre will also act as Ning Service’s main Nordic training hub. CATL said its European training network spans 39 countries and uses 14 instructors.
Ning Service currently operates 1,394 service locations across 85 countries and regions. CATL wants that footprint to reach 100 countries and regions by 2027, and 10,000 service locations by 2030.
The expansion comes as more EVs enter the repair and used-car market, putting greater emphasis on battery diagnosis and extending pack life rather than replacing complete assemblies.
