Volvo Car Malaysia has introduced a small batch of Selekt-certified pre-owned vehicles, with prices starting from RM153,000, giving buyers a cheaper way into the brand’s electric and hybrid.

The campaign covers 100 units nationwide and includes a mix of fully electric and hybrid models.

Among them, the compact EX30 electric SUV leads the pack at RM153,000, while larger models such as the EC40 and EX90 are also available at higher price points.

According to Volvo, the vehicles are sourced mainly from corporate fleets and dealer demonstration units. Most examples have low mileage, usually ranging between 7,000km and 16,000km, making them almost new.

Each vehicle has undergone Volvo’s Selekt certification process, which includes a 125-point inspection, software updates and the use of genuine parts. Buyers also get the remaining balance of the manufacturer’s five-year unlimited mileage warranty, along with roadside assistance and digital services support.

The programme runs on a first-come, first-served basis. Volvo said it was a way to widen access to its premium vehicles while nudging more buyers towards electric driving.

At RM153K for a used EX30, it is a fair-to-good deal, but not a “steal”. Buyers should view it as a discounted premium EV rather than the best-value electric vehicle in the market.

While the price undercuts a new unit by a decent margin, competition from brand-new rivals in a similar price range remains strong.
