A BYD senior executive has confirmed that the ultra-limited Yangwang U9 Xtreme electric hypercar has moved into multi-million-dollar territory, though the figure appears to refer to a transaction price rather than a conventional list price.
In a Weibo post during the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, BYD Group branding and public relations general manager Li Yunfei said the U9 Xtreme sold for more than 20 million yuan, or about US$2.76 million (around RM11mil) per unit.
CarNewsChina reported that this made it the highest-priced transaction recorded at the show.
The disclosure confirms that at least one U9 Xtreme was sold at that level, making it the most expensive BYD production vehicle recorded in an actual transaction to date.
The sale was marked by a handover at the show, with BYD chairman Wang Chuanfu personally delivering the car.
Limited to 30 units globally, the U9 Xtreme is a track-focused development of BYD’s Yangwang U9 electric supercar.
The model has a reported output exceeding 3,000hp, a 1200V electrical architecture, DiSus-X fully active suspension and carbon-ceramic brakes.
Its performance claims include a Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time of 6:59.157, putting it in rare company among production electric performance cars.
